21,000 crore spent on ‘Young India’ schools in Telangana, CM Revanth Reddy meets Nirmala Sitharaman
Telangana Chief Minister A.K. Revanth Reddy met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday (September 09, 2025). During this, he appealed to the central government to cooperate to strengthen the education sector of the state. The Chief Minister was accompanied by a delegation.
The Chief Minister told Sitharaman that the Telangana government has made many major changes in the field of education. Their aim is to impart corporate level education to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and Minorities, which are about 90% of the population of the state.
30,000 crore project in Telangana
The Chief Minister said that ‘Young India Integrated Residential Schools’ are being built in 105 assembly constituencies of the state. 2,560 students will be able to study in every school, which will give a total of 2.70 lakh students to study in these schools. The construction of these schools will cost about 21,000 crore rupees.
Apart from this, Rs 9,000 crore will be spent on providing modern labs and other facilities in junior, degree and technical colleges. The Chief Minister sought cooperation from the Finance Minister for this project of Rs 30,000 crore.
Chief Minister targeted the previous government
He also requested that the expenditure on the construction of ‘Young India’ schools should be exempted from the FRBM (Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management) limit. He said that this expenditure should be seen as investment. The Chief Minister also requested Nirmala Sitharaman to reorganize the debt of the state.
He said that the previous government had taken loans at very high interest rates arbitrarily, which has brought a huge burden on the state government. The Finance Minister gave positive response to this. Congress MP Dr. Mallu Ravi, Porika Balaram Naik, Suresh Shetkar, Chamla Kiran Kumar Reddy and State Finance Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania were also present in this meeting.
