Karnataka Legislative Council Member (MLC) SL Bhojegowda has made a shocking disclosure in the House. He claimed that he killed at least 2,800 dogs by poisoning at least 2,800 dogs to deal with the problem of stray dogs on the roads. The slain dogs were buried in coconut and coffee gardens.
SL Bhojegowda said in the House, ‘He was fed poisonous meat to kill stray dogs. He argued that the terror of stray dogs affects poor children. Children of big judges, ministers and legislators, who come and go by cars or other vehicles, may not be affected, but poor children, who go to school on foot, are threatened by these stray dogs. This terror is also in Kabban Park in Bengaluru.
Statement came after Supreme Court hearing
This statement of SL Bhojegowda came only a few days after the Supreme Court’s order to remove stray dogs from all areas of Delhi-NCR. In fact, on Monday, the Supreme Court ordered that all stray dogs of Delhi-NCR be kept in shelter sites to be built by the concerned authorities within 8 weeks.
During the hearing on a petition filed on self-promotion, a bench of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R. Mahadevan ordered contempt action against any person or organization, who try to obstruct the campaign to catch the dogs.
Officers release helpline number
The court ordered that all the stray dogs in the city should be taken to some other place, whether they are sterilized or not. Society should feel free and safe. The court said that for this, the officers should issue a helpline number, so that all complaints of dog bite can be filed and that stray animal can be rescued within 4 hours.
