3 people died due to Indian truck driver’s lapse, Florida police arrested, family appeal for softness in sentence
The lapse of a truck driver Harjinder Singh, a truck driver of Indian origin, killed three people on a highway in Florida, USA, after which the driver of the driver has now appealed to the government to give him less punishment. After this incident, the driver is in danger of being sentenced to jail for many years.
28 -year -old Harjinder is a resident of Ratol village in Tarn Taran district of Punjab. On August 12, 3 people lost their lives and were arrested due to a serious accident from Harjinder’s truck on Florida Turnpike. According to the investigators, the driver Harjinder was driving a tractor-trailer and was illegally taking a U-turn, causing a minivan truck to hit the truck. In this incident, two people died immediately and third while taking them to the hospital.
What does American law say?
After this incident, Harjinder moved to California, but the American marshals arrested him and brought him back to Florida. According to US law, now he can be jailed up to 45 years on charges of murder.
According to the Times of India report, relatives of Harjinder, who live in Punjab, said that this incident has shocked the whole family. Relative Dilbag Singh said, ‘Now he is 28 years old and if he is jailed for 45 years, then you can wonder what will pass on the whole family. We are also saddened by the death of 3 people in this accident. Such an incident has happened before.
Government should not give any concrete punishment
At the same time, the villagers of Rataul also expressed their support and said that this incident has not happened intentionally. According to PTI, a resident of the village said that although it was his fault to take a U-turn, he should not get any concrete punishment, otherwise the whole life will be ruined. It was his misfortune that such an accident happened. Harjinder’s elder brother Tejinder Singh lives in Tarn Taran with his family and mother. His entire family is dependent on farming.
