32nd quarterly conference of ED in Srinagar concludes, emphasis on rapid settlement of money laundering cases
The 32nd quarterly conference of the two-day zonal officers of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) concluded in Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The two-day conference held on Friday-Saturday (September 12 and 13, 2025) was chaired by Enforcement Director Rahul Naveen and all zonal heads and senior officers were present in it.
According to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials, the decision to make a conference in Srinagar was taken to restore the trust in security after the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The successful event of the conference gives the message that Jammu and Kashmir is now a safe and better place for national and international level meetings.
What was the major issue in the crossfire,
The most important issue in the meeting was to track the trial of PMLA cases fast. The director of the ED instructed all zonal heads to end the pending investigation and file a charge sheet. Following the order of the Supreme Court, proposals have also been sent to all the High Courts to create an exclusive PMLA court.
ED’s convision rate more than 94 percent
The ED said that out of 53 cases of cases which have been settled so far, the accused have been sentenced in 50 cases i.e. ED is more than 94 percent, which is considered to be the highest rate in the world, not only India. So far, the agency has also returned assets worth more than 34,000 crore to the victims and the right entitled.
What issues discussed in conference
- Case Management System: Instructions were given to complete the data entry on this issue and train training if needed.
- Property seized: Even after the court’s decision, there is a problem in taking possession many times, discussing it to make it easier.
- Asset Recovery and Management: To make the valuation and auction of properties transparent, it was proposed to adopt a Baanknet platform and create an asset management unit.
- IBC And PMla Conflict of: The need to keep pace with the bankruptcy law and money laundering law was stated.
- Fema/fera Case: Emphasis was laid on early finishing old cases and intensifying the investigation.
- Cyber ​​fraud and online betting: It was decided to form a separate strategy to deal with rapidly growing cyber fraud and online betting.
- Operational Reforms: Discussion on bringing e-office system and new circulars.
- Compensation to victims: This year a target was set to return Rs 15,000 crore to the victims.
ED is strengthening its infrastructure rapidly
ED said that it is rapidly strengthening his infrastructure. The new complex in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Bhubaneswar, Patna and Raipur, along with new offices, have been replaced by office in Jalandhar, Dehradun, Shillong, Kochi, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh. In the next 3-4 years, all offices are aiming to shift to their own building.
