‘334 cases of violence against minorities in Pak, 3582 cases in Bangladesh’, government in Parliament

In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday (July 07, 2025), Minister of State for External Affairs of India, Kirti Vardhan Singh said that in the last 4 years, the government has formally raised 334 major incidents of violence and atrocities against religious minorities in Pakistan and 3,582 other cases in Bangladesh.

The Minister of State for External Affairs said that the Indian government is keeping an eye on incidents of violence against religious minorities in many neighboring countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Referring to Pakistan, the Minister of State for External Affairs said that since 2021, the government has raised at least 334 major incidents before the Government of Pakistan.

He said that the government has also requested to abolish religious tolerance and communal violence towards minorities and its citizens. At the same time, the Government of India has also raised the issue of the status of minorities living in Pakistan and their human rights violations in the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.

So much violence against minorities in Bangladesh

Regarding the cases of Bangladesh, Singh said that 3,582 incidents of violence were registered against Hindus and other minorities since 2021 in Bangladesh. Regarding this, India had its conversation with Bangladesh and hoped that Bangladesh will take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of minorities.

So much violence against minorities in Afghanistan

Talking about Afghanistan, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said that the situation deteriorated after the Taliban occupation of Kabul in 2021, in view of which the government removed 74 members of minority communities, especially Afghan Sikhs, especially Afghan Sikhs. On June 18, 2022, the Government of India strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Gurdwara Dashmesh father Sahib Sri Gobind Sahib of Kabul.

On Friday (July 08, 2025), the Foreign Minister said about the attack on Hindus in the Lok Sabha and the sabotage of temples abroad that such incidents have happened in Canada, Britain and America. In a written reply, he said that in the year 2024, there have been a total of 5 cases of sabotage of Hindu temples in the US and 4 cases in Canada.
