The list of 65 lakh voters whose names have been removed from the draft voter list under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar have been released. Chief Election Commissioner Dnyanesh Kumar said that after SIR, the list of names removed from Bihar’s draft voter list has been put on the websites of the District Magistrates after the order of the Supreme Court.
Supreme Court ordered last week
Hearing several petitions challenging Bihar SIR, the Supreme Court had last week asked the Election Commission to publish details of 65 lakh names removed from the voter list, as well as not to include them so that transparency in the process can be increased.

Chief Election Commissioner Dnyanesh Kumar said that within 56 hours of the direction of the Supreme Court, the voters whose names were not included in the draft voter list were put on the website of the districts. According to the guidelines issued by the Election Commission, Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), who is SDM level officers, prepares voter list with the help of booth level officers (BLOs) and finalize it.
‘One month’s time to enter objections’
EROs and BLO take responsibility for the voter list to be error. The Chief Election Commissioner said that after the publication of the draft voter list, their digital and hord copies are shared with all political parties and also put on the Commission’s website. He said that before the publication of the draft voter list, before the final voter list is published, voters and political parties have a full month to register claims and objections.
Chief Election Commissioner Dnyanesh Kumar said that AI and Deepfec are a real challenge for the Election Commission and the Commission will try his best to deal with them by staying within the purview of the law. He also indicated that the voter lists that can be read by the machine can disturb the privacy of voters.
