Before hearing Bihar SIR, the Election Commission’s reply in the Supreme Court, said- ‘Nobody’s name will be removed from the voter list without notice’
The Election Commission has told the Supreme Court that no voter’s name will be removed from the list without issuing notice during Bihar intensive voter revision (SIR). In the reply filed before the hearing in the Supreme Court on August 12, the Election Commission has said that all the voters will be given full opportunity to keep hearing and documents. Written orders will be issued, giving reasons about those whose names will not be included in the list.
65 lakh voters are not named in draft list: Election Commission
The Election Commission has also said that voters will be given the facility to appeal at 2 levels in protest against its written order. The Commission has said that out of 7 crore 89 lakh voters, 7 crore 24 lakh forms have been received, which have not been able to make a place in the draft list, detailed information about them has been made available to the booth level agent (BLA) of political parties. The draft lift was published on August 1, but the information of the exempted voters was made available to BLA only on 20 July.

Due to BLA’s assistance and voters’ efforts, many people managed to make a place in the draft list. Those who have left, are also being given full opportunity. The Election Commission wants that no qualified voter should be deprived of getting a place in the voter list. Those who do not have appropriate documents are also being assisted in obtaining documents using the system of the state government.

The Election Commission has told the Supreme Court that it has issued advertisements in all the big newspapers of the country from time to time to deliver information to the voters. Press release is also being released regularly. People were made aware by sending SSS. Booth level officials (BLO) tried to confirm people from house to house, people who will become 18 years of age on 1 October 2025, their form is also being taken in advance. Due to the elderly, disabled or any other reason, the helpless voters are being fully assisted.
