India Block Bol from Parliament to ECI, power demonstration with 300 MPs against ‘Vote Theft’ tomorrow

Under the chairmanship of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, 300 MPs from the opposition India block will march on Monday from Parliament House to the Election Commission office in the capital Delhi. In March, leaders of more than 25 parties including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee will be involved. This march will start from Makar Gate of Parliament House at 11:30 am and go to the Election Commission via Transport Building. Mallikarjun Kharge has also arranged dinner for MPs.

Allegations of ‘vote theft’ and web portal
Rahul Gandhi has launched a web portal (Votechori.in/ecdemand) accusing the Election Commission of collusion with the BJP in ‘vote theft’. He wrote on social media, “To steal votes is against democracy. A person, the principle of one vote is being attacked. The clean voter list is necessary for an independent and fair election.”
Rahul has placed two demands – Digital voter list should be made public and transparency should be brought so that public and political parties can audit data. He appealed to the people to register and support the portal and said that this is a fight to save democracy.

Claim of ‘fake vote’ in Karnataka
The Congress claimed to have got 1,00,250 fake votes in Mahadevpura assembly constituency of Karnataka. According to allegations:

  • 11,965 duplicate voters
  • 40,009 fake/invalid addresses (including more than 30,000 ‘0’, ’00’, ‘,’)
  • 10,452 Bulk Voter (Many voters at a address)
  • 4,132 invalid photo voters
  • 33,692 new voters who misused Form 6

Election Commission and BJP’s response
The Election Commission dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s allegations and said that they should give affidavits in support of the allegations or apologize to the country. The Commission called them “new liquor in the old bottle” and said that it is wrong to have many voters on the same name or address. The BJP also accused Rahul of threatening constitutional institutions and spreading lies, as well as described it as a proud of the defeat.

Political heat increased before Bihar elections
Assembly elections are to be held in Bihar at the end of the year, in such a situation, opposition solidarity is considered important. Congress and RJD have opposed the SIR process implemented in Bihar. Tejashwi Yadav alleged that there was a large -scale rigging in the voter list and his name was removed. RJD filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding transparency and fairness. Congress President Kharge and other leaders called it an attack on democracy.

Commission’s statement and opposition to opposition
According to the Election Commission, no political party lodged a formal objection from 1 to 10 August, while the opposition says that the names of crores of voters have been removed from the list, which can affect the franchise. Protests continue continuously.
