Tension, trade and SCO Summit on LAC … Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met PM Modi amid Trump’s tariff controversy
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who visited India, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (19 August 2025). He spoke to PM Modi to improve India-China relations. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (Mea), Wang Yi National Security Advisor (NSA) has come to India for the 24th Special Representative level talks along the China-India border at the invitation of Ajit Doval. He has also spoken to India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar.
India-China economic relations will be better
China has assured India to resolve its major trading concerns, especially rare economy and concerns related to the import of fertilizer, indicating improving economic relations. According to the report of news agency PTI, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has told Foreign Minister Dr. S Jaishankar that Beijing is solving three major concerns of India rare meaning, fertilizer and tunnel digging machines.
China has banned the export of Rare Earth Magnets in response to an increase in American tariffs and is using this item in a trade war as bargaining. It has also affected other countries which depend on Chinese imports. Rare Earth Magnets are used in a variety of high-tech applications, including electronic goods and electric vehicles to large-scale industrial equipment.
PM Modi will go to China for SCO Summit
NSA Ajit Doval made it clear during a conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the SCO Summit to be held in Tianjin, China from 31 August to 1 September. During this, Doval said that new energy and speed are being seen in India-China relations. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to China will be very important.
