Shashi Tharore on India-Pak Relations: Shashi Tharoor said about relations with Pakistan, ‘Only cheated, India no longer desires’

On Tuesday (August 19, 2025) in Delhi, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor attended the release ceremony of the book ‘Foggy India-Pakistan Relations Today’. Regarding the Pahalgam terror attack, he said that India did not have much option to react to all this. A few days after Pahalgam, I wrote an OP-Ed while advocating this exactly. I did not realize that anyone in Delhi would read my OP-Aid. This is why I was so supportive of it.

Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that in 2019, Balakot and now Operation Sindoor, India has given a very clear message that we will not sit silent against terror. He said that after repeatedly suffering betrayal, there is no longer a desire in India to take the first step towards normalizing relations with Pakistan.

‘Pakistan will have to end terrorism from its land’
Shashi Tharoor, MP from Thiruvananthapuram, appealed Pakistan to demolish the terrorist network operated from his land. He said that from Jawaharlal Nehru’s agreement with Liaquat Ali Khan in 1950 to Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Lahore bus journey in 1999 and Narendra Modi’s visit to Lahore in 2015, India’s efforts have been cheated only due to enmity from across the border.

He said that in view of the records of Pakistani behavior, he has the responsibility. They have to take the first step to demolish the structure of terrorism on their land.

What did Tharoor say about ceasefire
Regarding the India-Pakistan ceasefire, the Congress MP said that the successful attack on the night of 9-10 May and India’s ability to thwart the Pakistani attempt to send missiles in Delhi on the morning of May 9-10, Pakistani DGMO appealed to the Indian counterpart to peace. Trump has no role in India Pakistan ceasefire.
