Parliament House ‘tree number 1’ becomes a hurdle in the security of PM Modi, this big decision will be taken soon

One of the six gates of the new Parliament House, a single tree standing at the Gaja gate has been identified by the SPG as a security barrier and soon it will be uprooted and planted inside the premises. Prime Minister Narendra Modi often uses yard gate.

This decision to plant this tree at second place includes many agencies, Special Safety Group (SPG), Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and Delhi Forest Department. The SPG is responsible for the security of the Prime Minister, while the CPWD is the primary construction agency of the central government and has to implement this decision. The Delhi Forest Department has to give the green signal to such a step.

This tree is known for this special thing

According to the official document available with ‘PTI-Bhasha’, all this began when the SPG marked the fully developed Tabebuiya Argentia tree as a possible obstacle in the VVIP route. This tree is known as ‘silver trumpet’ and is special for its bright yellow flowers.

The process of planting this tree one at another place will start soon. After the request of the Delhi Forest Department CPWD, it will allow it on the basis of ‘strict conditions’. The Central Public Works Department, in its request, cited SPG’s safety concerns.

‘Silver trumpet’ tree will be planted here

An official told ‘PTI-language’, ‘Since the monsoon session has just ended, the tree is likely to be planted elsewhere next week.’ He said that the inspiration site has been chosen for this, where statues of national symbols and freedom fighters are installed. Earlier these symbols and sculptures were at different places in the campus.

The document stated, “The IG4 inspirational site in Parliament House to plant this tree was proposed by the concerned regional employees on July 21 and found it suitable and sufficient for a tree transplant.”

This 7 year old tree in Parliament House

About seven years old, this tree grows rapidly and requires low care. It thrives in full sunlight and good drainage soil. This is why it can often be seen in gardens, roads and other public places. Apart from this, CPWD will also have to plant compensation of 10 plants of native species like Neem, Amaltas, Peepal, Banyan, Sheesham and Arjuna at the inspiration site.
