Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar alleged on Monday (September 01, 2025) that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers were behind the conspiracy to target the shrine and claimed that the matter was born with internal differences within the BJP.
State Congress President Shivkumar accused the BJP of performing ‘drama’ by organizing protests related to the Dharmasthal case. In response to the questions asked by the BJP to conduct an inquiry into the matter by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Shivkumar said, ‘Are they not satisfied with the investigation conducted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT)? They are the people who demanded SIT, they welcomed it.
Internal battle between two groups in BJP
Shivkumar said without naming anyone in a conversation with reporters here, ‘He never raised his voice to demand justice. The BJP has an internal battle between two groups, this is their conspiracy. BJP workers had conspired to tarnish the reputation of the shrine, now they are doing gimmick.
On Monday, the BJP organized a ‘Dharmasthal Chalo’ rally in the temple city demanding an inquiry into the matter from the central agencies and condemned the ‘campaign that defame the Dharmastha’. The party has also criticized the Congress government for the way of dealing with the case.
This is how the shrine dispute started
The dispute began when a complainant, which was later identified as CN Chinnaiya and was arrested on charges of false testimony, claimed that he had buried several bodies in the shrine in the last two decades, many of which found marks of sexual harassment on their body.
