Urea crisis in many districts of Telangana; Women in queues with children, police showers sticks on farmers

Farmers in Telangana are struggling with lack of urea supply and have become violent after their frustration. Farmers have started stone pelting and arson at urea warehouses and fertilizer shops. They are forced to queue in rain and sunlight, most of them have been standing in queue since night but even after waiting for hours they have not found a bag of urea.

All political parties are playing a game of accusations and counter-allegations on this issue, but the game of allegations and counter-allegations is not beneficial for the farmers. Farmers want results, but the central or state government is not fulfilling their needs instead of targeting each other.

The huge shortage of urea in Yadadri, Suryapet and Mehboobabad districts of Telangana has created a ruckus among farmers. The tragedy and police action of farmers standing in long queues for urea has made the situation more serious. Meanwhile, there have been cases of assault and unconsciousness at urea centers, which highlight the seriousness of this crisis.

A heartbreaking scene was seen in Aadagudur in Yadadri district of the state, where a mother was standing in a queue of urea feeding her hungry child. At the same time, another mother waited for hours with her three children. This scene is not only a symbol of urea deficiency, but also a symbol of farmers’ compulsion and helplessness.

A farmer argued with CM Revanth Reddy, police reached home

At the same time, farmer Laxman Yadav had argued with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy about the lack of urea at Ellareddypet Mandal Center in Rajanna Sirisila district. He had to bear the brunt of this bold step. A police officer lodged a complaint against him at the police station and the police reached his house and started calling him the police station. In support of Laxman, his fellow farmers also reached the police station and showed solidarity. This incident reflects the increasing tension between the government and the farmers.

A woman farmer standing in a queue of urea in the Huzurnagar division center of Suryet district suddenly fell unconscious. Hours fatigue and hunger spoiled his condition. On the other hand, there was a clash between two women over the Aadhaar card registration at the Agros Raithu Seva Kendra of Mehboobabad District Center. This clash increased so much that both of them grabbed each other’s hair and started fighting with slippers on the main road. This incident reflects the increasing frustration due to the urea crisis.

Farmers furious with low allocation of urea

The anger of farmers erupted in Gudibanda village of Kodad Mandal in Suryapet district when only 277 bags of urea were allotted for seven villages. Even after waiting overnight, the farmers felt disappointed. Performing at the urea center, he raised the question that how can so low bags meet the needs of 7 villages?

In Buchirdi Palli of Nallaballi division of Warangal district, the problems of farmers increased further when they were given bags of urea which had lumps and powders. A farmer complained that he stood in line throughout the day, but the urea found is not useful for farming. This situation has become a double hit for the farmers.

Lack of urea, poor quality and police action have broken the patience of farmers. The question arises that how long the farmers will continue to face such neglect and tragedy? Will the government be able to resolve this crisis or will this call of farmers remain unheard?
