ISSF World Cup: Meghna Sajjanar won the first World Cup medal, India finished fifth

Meghna Sajjanar on Sunday won his first medal in the World Cup with a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air rifle, with India finishing their campaign by finishing fifth in the final ISSF World Cup (Rifle/Pistol) of the session.

Meghna won a bronze medal by scoring a 230.0 in the final. The event dominated China’s emerging star Peng Shinlu, who broke the world record of 254.8 of compatriot Wang Zifai with a score of 255.3. Norway’s Janet Hague Dustad won the silver medal. On Saturday, Isha Singh gave India the first gold medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event.

China topped the top with three gold medals, while Norway finished second with two gold medals. On Sunday morning, Meghna made 632.7 caskor at the second qualification rally and Peng topped the top position by scoring a brilliant score of 637.4. The Chinese player started the 24 -shot final with a perfect score of 10.9, while Meghna stood at the lowest place in the eight women category after the first series of five single shot.

The Indian player made a good comeback by scoring 52.3 points in the second series and won the bronze medal. Kiran Ankush Jadhav, another India player, made 590 points in the men’s 50m Rifle 3 position qualification round and made it to the finals by securing fourth position. However, in the final, he had a very poor start in the first Neeling Position and then the second prone position, due to which he finished eighth with 406.7 scores after 40 shots.

Among other players in India, the Paris Olympic bronze medalist Swapnil Kusale scored 587 marks and finished 19th among the medal contenders. Babu Singh Panwar lagged behind him with 583 points. In the women’s air rifle, Olympian Ramita Jindal finished with a total of 629.8 points and 16th among the medal contenders, while Kashika Pradhan scored 626.6 points.
