Civil Services (ACS) officer Nupur Bora has been arrested under a sensational action in Assam. The special vigilance team of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma raided two locations of Nupur Bora, in which cash and jewelery worth about Rs 2 crore were recovered. This action has been taken on suspicion of his alleged involvement in disputed land deals. During the investigation, special monitoring was being done on Nupur Bora for six months. The matter remains a matter of discussion throughout the state and the investigation is still going on.

What was found in the raid?
Cash worth Rs 92 lakh and jewelery worth about Rs 1 crore were recovered from Nupur Bora’s Guwahati’s main residence. Apart from this, cash of Rs 10 lakh was also received from his rented house in Barpeta. In view of this heavy property, questions are arising that how could so much assets could be made due to their government salary. It has been a total of 6 years for Nupur for entry in service.

Who is Nupur Bora?
Nupur Bora is an Assam Civil Services Officer, who entered the service in 2019. He was born on 31 March 1989 in Golaghat district. He completed his graduation in English literature from Guwahati University and got education from Cotton College. Before joining the civil service, she was working as a lecturer at the District Education Training Institute (DIET). Nupur Bora started working as an Assistant Commissioner at Karbi Angalan and later posted as Circle Officer in Barpeta and Kamarup district.

Doubt of income and property
Initial investigation by the police has revealed that Nupur Bora has deposited property worth crores of rupees in addition to government salary. The source of this money is being doubted. The special vigilance party has said that a thorough investigation is going on in the matter so that it can be found that this property was not obtained from an illegal source.

Action on colleague too
The house of Lat Mandal Surjit Deka, who is working in the Revenue Circle Office of Barpeta, was also raided. It is alleged against him that with the help of Nupur Bora, he bought many land properties. Intensive investigation is also going on on Surjeet Deka.
