Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal has given a big update amid the tariff imposed on India by the US. He said that the talks between India and America regarding the trade agreement are moving forward. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also reacted from India to the agreement between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Indo-US trade talks
Jaiswal said that on 16 September 2025, the US delegation led by Assistant American Trade Representative Brendon Lynch held meetings in the Ministry of Commerce. The conversation was positive and visionary and many aspects of the trade agreement were discussed. He said that both sides will intensify efforts to reach a mutually beneficial agreement as soon as possible.
Saudi Arabia-Pakistan agreement also responded
In response to a question asked on the agreement between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, the spokesperson said that there is a widespread strategic partnership between India and Saudi Arabia, which has deepened in recent years. He hoped that in this partnership, the mutual interests and sensitivity of the two countries would be taken care of.

Earlier, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Thursday (September 17, 2025) that there is progress in trade talks between India and America and it is moving in the right direction. He said that Brandon Lynch, a assistant US trade representative for South and Central Asia, was in New Delhi on 16 September for a day -long conversation with the Indian official team.
Commerce Ministry issued a statement
After a seven -hour meeting with US officials, the ministry said in a statement, “It has been decided to intensify the efforts to reach out to the earliest profitable trade agreement as soon as possible.” The US has imposed a huge duty of 50 percent on Indian goods. This conversation was important in this context.
