The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has suspended BPL franchise Chittagong Kings. The former owner of the team, SQ Sports Enterprises Limited continued to do financial violations regularly, after which the board banned this franchise after ending the support. Bangladesh Cricket Board says that Chittagong Kings did not pay the outstanding amount of 46 million Taka (Bangladeshi Mudra).

BCB said that Chittagong Kings have not paid the dues of 46 crore Taka, about 33.1 crore Indian rupees. In addition to the first 2 seasons (2012 and 2013) of Bangladesh Premier League on this franchise, 2025 seasons and 12 years interest dues. The board says that SQ Sports Entertainment Limited continued to violate financial and contractual obligations. Among them, the salary of franchisees, tax besides tax, players and officials were stopped. The company was made aware of this several times, yet the money was not paid.

A settlement agreement was signed in September 2024, it was also violated. The board finally abolished its agreement with the company on 22 July 2025. Talking about the 2025 BPL season itself, Chittagong Kings franchise head coach Sean Tat, many players and support staff could not even pay full tank.

Even the brand ambassador of the league Shahid Afridi could not get full money. Chittagong Kings team owner Sameer Quadar Chaudhary had described Afridi’s non -payment of money as a personal matter. Host Yasha Sagar could not get all the money, in which the matter had moved forward till sending the legal notice.

Although this is not a case of match fixing, but years ago, CSK and Rajasthan Royals franchise were banned in the Indian Premier League. That incident shook franchise cricket.
