Oracle layoffs: Oracle recently showed the way out to around 3000 employees worldwide. The major reason for this is being stated to strengthen the capacity of the company and restructure the organization with increasing dependence on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The company has about 30,000 employees in India. In FY 2024, its revenue was recorded by 20 percent and it reached Rs 20,459 crore.

But now Orackle has started trimming its staff in India too. Under the global restructuring, more than 100 employees have been asked to quit their jobs last week. The Economic Times has quoted sources as saying that employees are being extracted from other teams including Cloud. This number can reach hundreds.

Why is it being trimmed?

In the letter sent to the employees extracted, the company has written that this step is part of organizational change. It was further stated in the letter that this decision has been taken to streamline the operations and adapt itself to the changes. Therefore, the position you are on is no longer necessary for the company.

Savement and employees’ response

The company has promised to pay 15 days salary to the affected employees on every completed service year under Severns Benefit. Apart from this, a medical insurance cover of up to one year will also be given. Senior employees who have worked for 15 to 20 years in Oracle have also been hit by this retrenchment. Some employees referred to relatively cordial farewell with Garden Leave, while many people called this process a sudden and jerk.

According to reports, the employees who have been evacuated say that this decision has been taken due to technological shifts. Especially due to the increasing use of AI, the company is taking this step towards reducing the cost. He said that performance was not an issue in this layoffs.
