The US last bought eggs from Russia in 1992.

According to the report, in July, the US spent $ 4.55 lakh (about Rs 3.8 crore) on chicken eggs from Russia. This step had to be taken when the poultry industry has suffered a huge loss due to bird flu in the country and there was a crisis of egg supply in America.

The price of 1 dozen eggs in America reached $ 7

Millions of chickens died due to outbreak of bird flu spread in early 2025. According to a report by CNN, the situation was so serious that many stores had to limit the purchase on the eggs. By February, the price of a dozen eggs reached $ 7. In July 2025, eggs still remained 16.4% more expensive than last year.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Lewit blamed the former Biden administration for this crisis, alleging that he sacrificed about 80 lakh chickens without leaving the post, causing further deterioration of the situation.

America and European countries have imposed strict restrictions on Moscow

After the Russia’s attack on Ukraine in February 2022, the US and European countries imposed strict restrictions on Moscow, making efforts to weaken Russia’s economy, limit its military capabilities and isolate it financially and diplomatically.

Despite the restrictions, in 2024, the US imported goods worth about $ 3 billion from Russia. These include fertilizer ($ 927 million in the first half of 2025), uranium and plutonium ($ 755 million) and precious metals. In the last three years, the US-Russia trade has fallen by about 90 percent.
