India has received a good news on Tuesday. Actually, Anandkumar Velkumar has created history for the first time and gave India a gold medal in speed skating. 22 -year -old Anand has completed the gold medal in senior men’s 1,000 meter sprint race 1: 24.924 minutes and won the gold medal.
A few days ago, he won the bronze medal with a time of 43.072 seconds in the 500 meter sprint, the first medal in India’s Senior World Championship.
Valkumar studying computer science
Velkumar, a resident of Tamil Nadu, is studying Computer Science from College of Engineering, Gindi. His elder sister Subi Suvatha Velkumar is also an Indian skater.
In 2021, Velkumar also became the first player to win India in any world championship by winning the silver medal in the 15 km competition at the Junior World Championship. At the same time, in the Asian Games held on 2 October 2023, he was part of the 3,000 meter relay team where he won the bronze medal.
Skating from the age of 6 years
Valkumar started roller skating at the age of just 6 and took training from coach Anna Raja in badminton court near the house. In the initial stages, he participated in district, state and national level speed skating competitions and achieved satisfactory results.
