Bangladeshi fundamentalist, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is targeting ‘Chicken Neck’

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday (August 21, 2025) claimed that a section of Bangladeshi fundamentalists is trying to incite the Indian citizens who had come here years ago by migrating from neighboring country.

‘Chicken Neck Corridor’ connects Northeast India to the rest of the country. At a press conference here, CM Sarma claimed that a conspiracy is being hatched to remind people of their ‘originality’ in the border areas, especially Dhubri district.

Attempt to encourage to show loyalty to Bangladesh

He said, “The situation of Dhubri is worrying, a section of Bangladeshi fundamentalists here is trying to encourage local people and to show them loyalty to Bangladesh, while they have migrated from there long ago.”

The Chief Minister said that most of the people living in Chicken Neck and its surroundings had originally from Bangladesh and later took Indian citizenship on the basis of the year of his arrival. He said, ‘Some elements are trying to remind these people of their originality and provoke them.’

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that it is going to be a very serious security threat in the coming days. The situation in Dhubri is very delicate. CM Sarma expressed concern about Indian citizens who originally migrated from Maman Singh of Bangladesh and questioned where their allegiance would be in the event of conflict between the two countries.
