‘Battle of democracy is not personal’, in the race for the post of Vice President. Sudarshan Reddy appeals to MPs
Prior to the Vice Presidential election, opposition candidate B Sudarshan Reddy has appealed to the MPs on Sunday (September 07, 2025) not to allow the party loyalty to be the basis of their selection and to win this post and ensure that Rajya Sabha is established as a true temple of democracy.
In the video message, Reddy told the MPs that he wants their support not for themselves, but for the values ​​that define us as a sovereign democratic Republic. Reddy said in his video message of more than 12 minutes for Members of Parliament, “There is no party whip in this election and voting is secret.”
‘Votes for India’s spirit’
He said, ‘Not loyalty to any political party, but love for the country should be the basis of your election. It is the moral responsibility of all of you to protect the conscience and soul of our beloved nation. By handing me this post to me, you will choose to protect parliamentary traditions, restore the dignity of debate and ensure that the Rajya Sabha remains as a true temple of democracy.
He said that this is not just a vote to choose the Vice President, it is a vote for India’s spirit. Come, let us all together strengthen our Republic and create a heritage that will make the generations to come and feel proud.
Deep feeling of humility and responsibility
In his message sent to MPs, Reddy said that he is standing in front of him with a deep sense of humility and responsibility as the Vice Presidential candidate of the Great Republic. He said, ‘India’s democracy has been built on the supreme sacrifice of our freedom fighters and has been nurtured by their foresight for decades.’
Reddy said, “Today, when the democratic place is shrinking and the rights of citizens are under pressure, it is our duty to protect the soul of our democratic republic.” He said that his candidature is not a personal aspiration, but is a collective effort to protect and strengthen the democratic fabric of India.
Both candidates for the post of Vice President from South India
The election for the post of Vice President will be held on 09 September. There will be a direct contest between the ruling NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan and Joint Opposition candidate Reddy. This time both the candidates are from South India, of which Radhakrishnan is from Tamil Nadu and Reddy from Telangana. The Vice Presidential election has been described by the opposition as an ideological battle, while the number force is in favor of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
