This rule will be effective from 2025-26 season and replacement will be given for injured players in multi-day format. Rishabh Pant’s injury has inspired the BCCI to take steps in this direction. Under the new rule, if a player gets out of the match due to a serious injury during a multi-day match, the team will be able to replace the management with a similar qualification player. This replacement will be implemented with immediate effect, for this, the approval of the selection committee and the match referee will have to be taken.
The Serious Injury Replacement Rules will ensure that the team’s strategy is not affected due to injury and the level of sports remains intact. In the seminar of umpires running in Ahmedabad, the umpires have been told about the latest sports situations. The BCCI said that no such replacement will be allowed in the White Body Tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali or Vijay Hazare tournament. It is not yet decided whether this rule will be allowed in the next season of IPL, but these rules will be applicable in the Multi-Day Under 19 tournament for the CK Naidu Trophy.
