Bihar CM Makes Big Announcement on Historic Asia Cup Win Hockey Players Get RS 10 Lakh Each
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh to each member of the Indian hockey team, which won the Hero Asia Cup 2025 on Monday. Kumar also announced to give Rs 5 lakh to each of the team’s associate staff. Significantly, the Indian hockey team defeated Korea 4–1 in the Hero Asia Cup in Rajgir on Sunday. Nitish wrote on X that in the Hero Asia Cup 2025 held for the first time on the campus of the State Sports Academy-Sah-Bihar Sports University located in Rajgir, the Indian hockey team has made a unique victory and made the entire country proud.
The Chief Minister further said that the state government has decided to provide the honor amount to encourage the players and associate staff of the Indian hockey team who won the Hero Asia Cup 2025. Hero Asia Cup 2025 winner will be awarded Rs 10 lakh to each player of the Indian team and Rs 5 lakh to each associate staff. Many best wishes to the Indian hockey team for the future.
The Indian men’s hockey team defeated Korea 4–1 at the Rajgir Sports Complex on Sunday to win the title of Hero Asia Cup Rajgir, Bihar 2025. The stadium was packed with the audience and the locals had come to give strong support to the team. With this victory, India finished the eight years of waiting by regaining its ruling position in Asia. Also, India qualified for FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2026 (in the Netherlands and Belgium).
India last won the Asia Cup in Dhaka in 2017. In today’s final, goals for India were scored by Dilpreet Singh (28 ‘, 45’), Sukhjit Singh (1 ‘) and Amit Rohidas (50’). After this historic victory, Hockey India announced to give ₹ 3 lakh to the players and ₹ 1.5 lakh to the support staff. India made a great start and Sukhjit Singh scored a goal within just 30 seconds of the match started. Captain Harmanpreet Singh got the ball from the best passing and Sukhjit dodged the Korean goalkeeper Jahan Kim while hitting a strong Tomahawk shot. The first quarter saw a lot of action. India got a penalty stroke with about six minutes left. The opportunity was given by Manip Singh when the Korean defender was stopped from the stick while hitting the goal. But this opportunity was lost and Jugraj Singh’s attempt was stopped.

In the second quarter, Korea slowed India’s pace. Jugraj got a green card but young midfielder Rajinder Singh gave India the first penalty corner in the 19th minute. However, this effort of India was rejected after a good review of Korea. In the second quarter, the goal attempts between the two teams stopped for a while. But in the 28th minute, Dilpreet Singh scored a 2–0 lead to India. This opportunity was received from the long pass of captain Harmanpreet Singh, which Sanjay extended to Dilpreet. He stopped for a while and fired the ball from the goalkeeper.
India started the game in the third quarter after half time, although Sanjay had to play only 10 players in the field due to getting a green card. Three minutes after the start of the third quarter, India got a penalty corner but the decision was overturned after Moneyp’s ball. After this, India carried out many attacks but could not score. Finally in the 45th minute, Dilpreet Singh increased the lead by scoring a brilliant goal. Harmanpreet’s brilliant pass by Raj Kumar Pal hit a shot but the final goal was scored by Dilpreet.

Dilpreet remained the axis of the Indian invasion and prepared another penalty corner which was converted into a round by Amit Rohidas. At the beginning of the fourth quarter, Korea scored a goal with a good strategy of the penalty corner. Yang Zihoon passed the ball while playing fake to the injector Lee Jungjun, who gave the ball to Son Day and scored the score 4–1. But this score could not reduce India’s victory hunger and ended the wait for eight years while maintaining the lead for the last minutes.
