DMK (DMK) senior leader TKS Ilangovan on Monday (August 18, 2025) alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan for the post of Vice President keeping in mind its election benefits, as the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu are going to be held in less than a year. He said that the aim of the BJP is to cheat the people because Tamil Nadu will not benefit from nominating Radhakrishnan as the candidate for the post of Vice President.

The DMK leader clearly indicated that his party would not support Radhakrishnan’s candidature. He said, “Radhakrishnan is a BJP worker and his nomination for the second top constitutional post from the party is his promotion and this is not going to benefit Tamil Nadu.”

Former Rajya Sabha member Ilangovan questioned why DMK should support Radhakrishnan’s nomination. He said that his party will follow the decision of the opposition coalition India in this matter, in which DMK is a prominent ally. He said, “Radhakrishnan’s enrollment is a promotion for him, but there is no good for Tamil Nadu.”

Why do they not want to consider Tamil civilization the most ancient civilization? Is this not an insult to Tamils? ”

He alleged, “They claim as if they had done some great job for Tamil Nadu. If you ask them to recognize the discoveries of Kailadi first, will they do so? Why are they refusing to do so? They themselves are insulting Tamil Nadu and Tamils and people have understood this and that is why they never accepted the BJP. The BJP is ignoring its own Tamil leaders and the central government is not providing necessary funds in the field of education to Tamil Nadu.

He said, “Tamil Nadu is being isolated by the BJP and it is not being accepted. Whenever BJP leaders visit the state, they praise Tamil Nadu, but the reality is that the BJP government is insulting the state and does not want the people here. Every Tamil dwellers know that every Tamil dwellers do not want to develop Tamil Nadu and they do not want to develop the state and they do not want to develop the state.
