‘Blood donation Amrit Mahotsav 2.0’ on PM Modi’s birthday, target of raising 3 lakh units of blood in a day

On the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, different programs are being organized across the country. In this episode, in all the cities of the country, thousands of people are also preparing to make a new world record by donating blood in a day.

On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, more than 7,000 blood donation camps have been set up by the All India Terapanth Youth Council Society, through which a target is to collect 3 lakh units of blood in a single day. This mega campaign has been named ‘Blood Donation Amrit Mahotsav 2.0’.

Blood donation camp organized

In the camp held in Delhi, Union Railway and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav donated blood at Anubhavrat Bhavan at ITO. At the same time, Union Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel was also present. These blood donation camps set up on the occasion of the birthday of the Prime Minister have been organized not only in India, but also in 70 countries including Nepal, America, Britain, Indonesia, Australia, Dubai and many African countries.

It is worth noting that earlier in 2022, the All India Terapanth Youth Council had set a world record by collecting 2.5 lakh units of blood in a single day. The purpose of this campaign to donate blood donation is that the life of any patient in the country should not go due to lack of blood.

20–25% blood deficiency in the country every year

Statistics show that India requires about 15,000 units daily and about 1.2 crore units of blood in a year, while the availability is limited to only 90–95 lakh units. That is, 20–25% blood deficiency remains in the country. In India, more than 1.5 lakh Thalassemia patients require regular blood. Apart from this, cancer, dialysis, heart patients and patients with large surgery also require blood.

In more than 5 lakh road accidents every year, millions of patients need to offer blood immediately. Experts believe that only 1% of India’s large population donates regular blood. In such a situation, if only 2% of the people resolve to donate blood once a year, then there will never be a shortage of blood in the country.
