The Union Cabinet on Friday approved a package of Rs 52,667 crore, under which emphasis has been laid on education, LPG, infrastructure and development of the northeastern states. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the Union Cabinet has approved Rs 4,200 crore to strengthen technical education institutions. He informed that the cabinet approved a subsidy of Rs 12,060 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana for 2025-26.

Special package for the development of Assam and Tripura

The Union Cabinet has approved LPG subsidy of Rs 30,000 crore for oil marketing companies (OMCs). This will not increase the prices of LPG. In the Union Cabinet meeting, special focus has been made on the northeastern states of Assam and Tripura. A special development package of Rs 4250 crore has been approved for these two states.

12,060 crore approval for PM Ujjwala Yojana

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, “Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is recognized globally for inclusive development. The objective of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is to change the lives of the public. So far 10.33 crore Ujjwala connections have been given. The cabinet has approved the assistance of Rs 12,060 crore for PM Ujwala beneficiaries for the financial year 2025-26.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, “Middle class people have approved a subsidy of Rs 30,000 crore to get LPG gas at cheap prices. The current global politics causes gas prices fluctuates and subsidy is given to take care of it.”

Union cabinet decisions regarding education

The Union Cabinet on Friday approved the proposal for implementation of multicolored education and research reform (merit) scheme in 275 technical institutes including 175 engineering institutes and 100 polytechnics. This is a central region’s plan with a total financial burden of Rs 4,200 crore for a period from 2025-26 to 2029-30. Out of this Rs 4,200 crore, the World Bank will get external assistance of Rs 2,100 crore as a loan.

30,000 crore approval to fill the deficit of oil companies

In the meeting of the Union Cabinet, 30 thousand crores were approved for compensation for losses in Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) LPG. In order to improve road connectivity in South India, approval of Rs 2,157 crore has been received for construction and development of Markkanam-Puducherry Four-Len Highway.
