Delhi: Cabinet Secretariat dominates in swimming competition, great performance of Baishali Kanaujia, Harshit Narang also did wonders

Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee swimming pool complex, known as Taal bowl swimming pool, came alive with competitive enthusiasm during the inter-ministers’ Cultural and Sports Board (CCSCSB), Department of Personnel and Training, during the inter-ministerial swimming competition 2025-26. This board is a central agency dedicated to promote cultural and sports activities among central government employees across the country.

This two -day event saw a great performance in the major categories, in which more than 14 different ministries and departments participated enthusiastically. The Cabinet Secretariat won the over all title, creating their dominance on the team leaderboard. In a tough match, the Ministry of Railways and Finance jointly secured runners -up.

Of. Murugan is the chief guest

Chief Guest K.K. Murugan, who is a 1990 batch AIR UPSC officer, brought out his medal -filled legacy. A former college medium -range runner who won the gold medal in the National Masters 800 meters, represented India at the Asian Masters at Kitakami and also qualified for Boston Marathon. Murugan told the attendees, “Sports discipline is not limited to youth or tracks, this is a flame that we should keep beyond our offices and files.”

Rudraksha won gold medal in 50 meter freestyle

The men’s events saw a strong competition, which was started by Rudraksha Kumar of the Ministry of Finance to win the gold medal with a time of 0: 26.62 in the 50m freestyle, while the Virat Shaukeen of the Rajya Sabha won the brands between 0: 30.92, Swaroop Chakravarti of Swaroop Chakravarti.

Harshit Narang did amazing in breaststroke

Harshit Narang of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting finished first in 50 meter breaststroke with 0: 39.64 seconds, Sahil Chopra of the Ministry of Finance finished second with 0: 39.92 seconds and the Cabinet Secretary Swaroop finished third with 0: 45.36 seconds; Narang finished first with 1: 31.14 seconds in 100m breaststroke, the lotus win of the railway won the silver with 1: 46.24 seconds and Shubham of the Ministry of Finance won a bronze medal with 2: 22.19 seconds.

Baijhali Kanaujia’s great performance

In the women’s category, Baijhali Kanaujia of Cabinet Secretariat performed brilliantly, won the gold medal with 1: 00.62 seconds in 50 meter freestyle (Ranjita Shami of the Ministry of Health won the silver medal with 1:13.85 seconds and Vanshika Gupta of the Ministry of Defense won the bronze medal with 1: 34.34 seconds) Shami 1: second with 25.66 seconds and Vanshika Gupta finished third with 1: 34.34 seconds).

This uninterrupted event of swimming was conducted by Brijesh Pant, the convenor of All India Radio, whose carefully the plan ensured that not a single event is backward. At the award distribution ceremony, his efforts were strongly appreciated. He said, “This is about creating a platform where talent can shine without any hindrance. To see these athletes moving beyond their boundaries reminds us that competition not only builds the winners, but also creates a strong community.”
