Dri’s big action on illegal trade from Pakistan, 28 containers seized at port in Mumbai

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 28 containers on Monday (September 15, 2025) at Nhawa Sheva Port in Navi Mumbai. All these seized containers had cosmetics and dry dates of Pakistani origin. Their price is said to be around 12 crore rupees. Two people have also been arrested in this case. Recently, questions were raised about the sale of products made in Pakistan in the shops of Indian markets and online.

According to DRI officials, three Indian importers had purchased these consignments in violation of the ban imposed by the government on Pakistani -origin goods. An Indian citizen based in Dubai arranged for trans-showing of dry dates from Pakistan on the basis of commission. He used his own firms to hide the trail of maritime transport by releasing fake invoices. These 28 containers were sent from Jabel Ali port in Dubai as UAE origin.

Operation Deep Manifest Dri Action

Under the ‘Operation Deep Manifest’, the country’s largest anti-somgaling agency seized 800 tonnes of cosmetics and dry dates filled in 28 containers. These goods were sent from Pakistan, a complex transaction among the citizens of India and UAE to hide the real source.

DRI officials said that money transactions from India to Pakistan also took place through this network. The supplier has been arrested. Apart from this, the custom broker, who helped in smuggling of cosmetics, has also been arrested for declaring false ‘Country of Origin’.

BJP Leader complained to central agencies

BJP leader Neelotpal Mrinal had complained to different agencies of the Government of India about selling Pakistani products. When it was investigated, it was found that even today the Pakistani product is available in the Indian market without changing the name without paying the name and following the rules.

Government closed trade from Pakistan after Pahalgam terror attack

After the death of 26 people in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025, the central government had completely banned the direct or indirect import of Pakistani -origin goods from May 2, 2025. After this, DRI violated this ban and initiated this action to tighten the goods being imported.
