Encounter between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir, search operation started after firing; A young man injured
A search operation was resumed in the area of Udhampur district of Jammu on Friday morning (September 20) after firing between security forces and militants on Friday evening (19 September). This action is being taken in Doodu Basantgarh area.
A security personnel was injured in Friday’s incident. Security forces have launched a comprehensive campaign to catch the terrorists and clean the area. So far, the number and situation of terrorists has not been known. Local administration and security agencies have increased surveillance throughout the area and an appeal has been made to the citizens to be vigilant. The search operation is going on and the security forces are fully cautious to restore peace in the area.
The IGP of Jammu informed on the social media platform X that the joint campaign of SOG, police and army is going on in Kishtwar. According to officials, intelligence agencies had reported on Friday that terrorists were hiding in the area. After searching for several hours, the encounter started at 8 pm.

On June 26, a terrorist named Hyder was killed in an encounter in the forest of Doodoo-Basantgarh. He was the top commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed and was active in the area for the last four years. Apart from this, an army soldier was killed in an encounter with terrorists in Basantgarh area on 25 April.
Chinese hand grenade recovered in intelligence search
Meanwhile, the counter-intelligence unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police carried out a thorough search operation in connection with the cases of terrorism in seven districts of Kashmir Valley-Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, Kupwara, Handwara, Pulwama and Shopian.
During the search, security forces in Poonch sector recovered a large number of weapons, including 20 Chinese hand grenades. According to intelligence sources, the terrorists had recently hidden this consignment of weapons and its purpose was to transfer them to terrorist activities inside the valley. The intelligence information received on time thwarted this conspiracy. Some digital equipment and documents were also recovered during the search, which are important as evidence related to terrorism.
