Flood havoc in Telangana, person dies due to flowing in Kadam Dame, mourning in village

The flood due to heavy rains in the Kadam Dame Narayan Reddy project in Nirmal district of Telangana took another life in its arms. Tippedi Gangadhar (28), a resident of Kannapur village of Kadam Mandal, became a victim of this natural disaster. This incident of flooding of floods is shocking, which ran a wave of mourning in the entire area.

The torrential rains in Telangana for the last several days have brought rivers and reservoirs in spate. The water level in the Kadam project reached 693.7 feet, which is close to 700 feet. The officials opened 17 gates of the project to control the flood water and released 1,56,376 cusecs of water down. Meanwhile, Gangadhar, who was probably near the river for fishing, got stuck in strong flow and swept away.

The team engaged in rescue work immediately

As soon as the incident was reported, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), local police and firefighters immediately got involved in rescue work, but the strong current and boom of water made the rescue work extremely challenging. An NDRF official said, “We are looking for Gangadhar using special equipment, but the intensity of floods has put us in difficulty.”

The villagers are praying for safety at the project site

Gangadhar’s family and villagers gather at the project site and pray for their well being. His mother, Lakshmi Devi, crying, says, ‘My son went to the fish. We asked him not to go near the river again and again, but he did not listen. Now our life drowned in darkness. The district administration has appealed people not to go near the river and reservoirs. This accident once again exposes human help in front of natural disasters.
