Goa will host the fide world cup 2025 from October 30 to November 27

On Tuesday, the International Chess Federation confirmed that Goa will host the FID World Cup 2025 from October 30 to November 27. At the same time, 206 players from all over the world will participate in this competition. At the same time, all these candidates will compete in the eight -round knockout tournament to get a place in the tournament.

At the same time, every round is winning or going home, which makes it one of the most exciting tournaments of the World Cup calendar. The top three teams will qualify for the 2026 candidates tournament.

Why is Goa only?

According to FIDE, the brilliant beach of Goa, lively culture and warm hospitality create an exciting background for this global match. Players and fans will also experience this place famous for their energy and attraction along with this world-class chess.

India has a deep connection with chess and in recent years the country has become a global force which has been prepared by top players and hosted important tournaments.

Earlier in the year 2002, when India organized the Chess World Cup in Hyderabad. During that time Vishwanathan Anand became the champion. Since then the Indian chess has become very strong. Currently, players like World Champions D Gukesh, R Pragyanand and Arjun Arigasi will represent India in the current World Cup, who are also considered strong contenders for the title.

Meanwhile, FIDE President Archdi Dworkovich said that India has become one of the strongest countries in chess, along with excellent players and enthusiastic fans. Earlier this year, the FIDE World Cup held in Georgia is proud to be held in Goa. This will be a celebration of chess that will be a unique experience for players and audiences around the world.

The FIDE president further said that, representatives of more than 90 countries are expected to participate and this chess will be one of the most viewed events in history.

We are committed to organizing a event that reflects both our decision passion and professionalism of our federation. This World Cup will inspire millions of people across the country, but will also showcase India’s growing stature as a global center of chess. We are very grateful to the FIDE for honoring India for hosting the 2025 World Cup in Goa.
