The Reserve Bank of India said on Friday that the government has appointed Economic Affairs Secretary Anuradha Thakur to the board of directors of the central bank. Thakur has replaced Ajay Seth, who retired on June 30 after a four -year tenure in the North Block (Ministry of Finance).

Thakur, an IAS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre, 1994 batch, took over as the Department of Economic Affairs on July 1. The RBI said in a statement, the Center has nominated Anuradha Thakur, the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, as a director in place of Ajay Seth in the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India.

Thakur has been nominated for the next order from July 24, 2025. Apart from the Secretary of Economic Affairs, the Central Board of Directors of RBI has another Director Financial Services Secretary M Nagaraju nominated by the government.
