Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (September 13, 2025) urged various organizations in Manipur to quit violence and said that his government is with the people of the state and wants to make it a symbol of peace and prosperity.

Addressing a public meeting in the cookie -dominated Chudachandpur district during his first visit to the state after erupting ethnic violence in May 2023, Modi said that the continuous efforts of the central government for peace led to a conversation between the two fighting aspects.

Appeal from groups and organizations to choose the path of peace

He said, ‘It is unfortunate that violence took place here. Today, I want to promise you that the Government of India is with you and I am with you. I appeal to all groups and organizations to choose the path of peace. The Prime Minister said that peace is paramount for development and the central government is committed to achieving it.

He said that the central government has increased the budget allocation for railway and road connectivity projects in the state. Since 2014, I have laid special emphasis on improving contact in Manipur. India will soon become a country with the third largest economy in the world and I want to ensure that the benefits of development reach every corner of the country.

Projects worth more than Rs 7,300 crore unveiled

Describing Manipur as the land of courage and valor, the Prime Minister said that he can never forget the love received from Imphal to Chudachandpur through road. He said, ‘I talked to the displaced people and I can say that Manipur is looking towards a new morning. People have chosen the path of peace.

Modi said that the projects that they have inaugurated here will improve people’s lives in the matter of infrastructure and healthcare. He said, ‘Shortly before, from this platform, projects worth more than Rs 7,300 crore were unveiled. These projects will improve the lives of the people of Manipur, especially the tribal communities living in the hilly areas.
