Hongkong Open: Satvik-Chirag did wonders, made a place in the semi-finals of the tournament
India’s badminton stars Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty did wonders in Hong Kong Open. The country’s number man doubles pair confirmed their place in the semi -finals of the tournament. Both defeated Malaysia’s Junidi Arif and Roy King Yap in the match that lasted more than an hour. In the tournament, the eighth seeded Indian pair won the 12th of September 21-14, 20-22, 21-16.
Satvik and Chirag maintained their dominance in the first and third games. In the second game too, he won the score for 20-20 by winning four consecutive points after trailing, but a wrong service of Chirag gave a chance to the Malaysian pair and they won the game with a margin of two points. The journey to the semi -finals was not easy for Satvik and Chirag.
Earlier on 11 September, the two defeated Thailand’s Pirachi Sukpun and Pakkapon Tiraratsakul 18-21 21-15, 21-11. The Thai pair shocked Indians with tough net sports and strong defense in the first game but the Bronze Medal winner of the World Championship, Satwik-Chirag, increased their aggression in the second game and caught up on the match.
