‘I already said what I had to say’, Sudarshan Reddy said on Amit Shah’s statement to support Naxalism
Opposition for the post of Vice Presidential India alliance and retired Justice B.K. Sudarshan Reddy refused to carry forward the debate on behalf of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the charge of supporting him of Naxalism. He said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah wants to create an atmosphere against him.
Describing the post of Vice President as a high constitutional post instead of political, Reddy appealed to all parties on Tuesday (August 2025) to consider their candidature on the basis of merit. Reddy, who came to Lucknow to consult the leaders of the Congress and Samajwadi Party (SP), the leading constituents of the India alliance, said on the allegations made by Shah at the joint press conference in the presence of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, “I have been talking continuously for the last four days on the allegations made by Shah. At this time I have nothing new to say. This question is no longer new. He (Shah) is trying to create a narrator. I have already given my response to this and I have said what he had to say. I do not want to move this debate further. I have always stood with the basic spirit of the Preamble of the Constitution and will stand firmly even further. “
The former Justice said, “I don’t need to tell why I am here.” I have come from Uttar Pradesh to get the support of honorable members of Parliament. I believe that the Vice President, which is the second highest post in the country after the President, is not a political post, but a high constitutional post. “
I express my gratitude for opposition parties- B. Sudarshan Reddy
He said, “Some people ask me why I stepped in politics arena.” I replied that I have not stepped into politics. It is a high constitutional post, on which has been the first philosopher, nationner and educationist- like Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Dr. Zakir Hussain, former diplomat Dr. K.K. R. Narayanan and later Hamid Ansari. All these are sources of inspiration for me. I have been made a candidate for this post, for this I express my heartfelt gratitude to all opposition political parties.
Reddy said, “The opposition has expressed confidence in me and I am very grateful for this. I am happy to know that those people are also coming forward to help me who are not involved in the India alliance. ”
What did Reddy appeal to political parties,
He appealed to all political parties, saying, “I urge members of all political parties to rise above the party spirit and consider my candidature on the basis of virtue.”
