‘I am a devotee of Gandhi family, apologize’, Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar said on the song RSS Annthan

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar recently sang the RSS anthem in the Assembly, taunting the opposition. He spoke to the media on Tuesday (26 August 2025) over the controversy over it and cleared the situation. Shivkumar said that he did not praise the RSS, but opposition leader R.K. Ashok was sung to take a hand in hand.

Shivkumar said, “If someone has hurt someone, I apologize, but this apology is not under any political pressure.” According to him, his statement was broken to take political advantage and an attempt was made to create confusion in the public.

Commitment to Congress and Gandhi family
DK Shivkumar, separate from this dispute, emphasized his political faith. He clearly said that no one can raise any question on the Gandhi family. I am a born Congressman and only the Congressman will die. He described the Gandhi family as the center of his political faith. He said that the Gandhi family is my God and I am a devotee. Apart from this, he also recalled his three -decade long association with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

Mention of personal and political conflicts
DK Shivkumar mentioned his difficult struggles to show his loyalty to the Congress. He said that once the government came into crisis, he had united about 200 MLAs. Recalling the cases registered by the time and Enforcement Directorate (ED) spent in Tihar Jail and said that despite all this he did not leave the party. He had proposed to build 100 Congress buildings on the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and called him the party as a temple.

Political importance
