‘I love neighboring countries, but this is not the problem of India’, what did CM Mamta Banerjee say on Nepal violence?
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday (September 09, 2025) urged the people of the northern districts bordering Nepal to maintain peace in view of anti -government protests in the neighboring country.
Violent protests continued for the second day on Tuesday in Nepal. Violation of the sanctions on public meetings, the protesters demanded the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and vandalized the houses of several political leaders. Oli has resigned from the post of Prime Minister.
Nepal’s problem is not of India
Mamta Banerjee said at Kolkata Airport before leaving for North Bengal administrative tour, ‘We love Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. We all love border countries. I also urge the residents of Siliguri, Kalimpong and other areas bordering the Nepal border to maintain peace and avoid activities that can cause problems, because it is not our problem. Let the situation be normal there. We cannot interfere, this is not our case.
He also emphasized that the foreign policy is the jurisdiction of the Central Government. Mamta said, ‘If our neighboring countries live well then we will also be better. We want peace to remain in the neighboring country.
‘Do not go to Nepal by risking life’
The Chief Minister also advised journalists not to go to Nepal to cover the developments in the neighboring country. He said, ‘Do not go to Nepal by risking your life. You can also give information about Nepal from Siliguri. Security is first, inform the police before going abroad.
