‘If there are fake allegations …’, Election Commission asked Rahul Gandhi demanding an affidavit

In view of the allegations of vote theft of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Election Commission of India has once again commented on the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha on Saturday (August 9, 2025). The Election Commission said that either it should sign the affidavit in support of all its claims or apologize to the country for making fake allegations on the Commission.

A day after the sharp rhetoric between Gandhi and the Election Commission of India over alleged vote theft in at least three states, the Election Commission officials again stressed the Congress leader on giving an affidavit signed to confirm their claims. A commission official said, “Congress leader Rahul Gandhi should either give an affidavit to the Election Commission as per the rules or apologize to the country for his false allegations.”

BJP also targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi

Meanwhile, the BJP said on Saturday (August 9, 2025) that if Congress leader Rahul Gandhi does not trust the Election Commission, then he should resign from the membership of the Lok Sabha on moral grounds. The BJP also targeted Gandhi for not giving an affidavit about the claim of vote theft.

Commission sought a list of wrong names included in voter list from Rahul Gandhi

Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Haryana on Thursday (August 7) asked Rahul Gandhi to share the names of the voters who claimed that they have been incorrectly included in voter lists or excluded from the list.

Rahul Gandhi refused to give affidavits to Election Commission

He had also sought a declaration signed by the election authorities to initiate necessary action in the case. But Rahul Gandhi had made it clear that he would not give signed affidavits. Gandhi had said that he has already taken an oath to protect the Constitution as a Member of Parliament.
