The US President called Prime Minister Modi a day when India and the United States organized a new round of talks in New Delhi on the proposed bilateral trade agreement.

Negotiations are considered important about tariffs

This conversation held after the US imposed 50 percent tariff on India is considered important, as it took place a few days after the two leaders exchange messages on social media, indicating the intention to improve the relationship again. The relations between New Delhi and Washington became tense after Trump increased tariffs on Indian goods to 50 percent, including 25 percent additional fees for India’s purchase of Russian crude oil.

What did India respond to tariff case

India described American action as ‘inappropriate and indispensable’. In the last few weeks, many officials of the Trump administration, including the White House trade advisor Peter Navarro, have used aggressive language to target India, especially on its energy relations with Russia. While defending the purchase of crude oil from Russia, India has been saying that its energy purchase is inspired by national interest and market dynamics. Earlier in the day, India and the US organized a new round of trade talks.

India-based American Embassy said that both sides discussed the next steps of trade talks during a one-day meeting held in New Delhi. A spokesman for the embassy said, “US assistant trade representative Brendon Lynch met Rajesh Aggarwal, Special Secretary, Ministry of Commerce on 16 September. The meeting discussed the next stages of bilateral trade talks.
