Earlier, the better ranked team in the shoot out lost their first two opportunities, while goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu stopped the final penalty and ensured India’s victory in the third-fourth-fourth-ranked classification match.

In the shootout, Lalianjuala Chhangte, Rahul Bheke and Jitin MS scored goals from India while Anwar Ali and Udanta Singh failed to score goals. Both teams finished second in their group, which gave them a chance to play in the third place. India has lost 6 out of 9 matches against Oman since 2000. The previous match between the two teams was played in March 2021 which was a 1–1 draw.
