India-Fiji Relations: ‘Some people are not very happy with you’, know why Fiji’s PM said this to Prime Minister Modi

Fiji’s Prime Minister Sitweni Ligamada Rabuka spoke to PM Modi on Tuesday (August 26, 2025) after the US imposed a 50 percent fee on Indian goods. He told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that a person may not be ‘very happy with you, but your personality is so big that you can withstand those uncomfortable situations.

Rabuka shared the details of his talks with Modi in a conversation with the audience after delivering a lecture on the subject of peace organized by the Indian Global Council (ICWA) at Sapru House here. Fiji’s Prime Minister reached Delhi on a three -day visit on Sunday, which aims to strengthen Fiji’s relations with India in various fields such as maritime security, trade, health, digital technology and capacity building.

India and Fiji on Monday (25 August 2025) prepared an action plan to promote defense relations and agreed to work jointly for peaceful and inclusive Hind-Pacific. Modi and Rabuka held talks to expand the overall bilateral cooperation. After the ICWA lecture, the person present in the program asked him about what he was told about his bilateral interaction and ocean view of peace with the leaders of different countries. Rabuka said that I have not had any personal conversation with the President of America. I have requested a bilateral meeting with the President of Russia. I have a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Britain. He said, ‘When we talked yesterday, Prime Minister Modi repeated our feelings and concept.’

Relations with America are affecting
Rabuka said in detail, ‘Now, whatever is happening, it is affecting your relations with America. Regarding the recent announcements of the charges, I told Prime Minister Modi that some people are not very happy with you, but your personality is so big that you can withstand those uncomfortable situations.
