Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday (8 August 2025) that India is interested in trade agreements with many countries including America and many are keen to join India on the trade front. He expressed confidence that India’s exports in FY 2025-26 will be more than the previous year’s figures. India’s goods and service exports stood at US $ 82.5 million in FY 2024-25.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal said, ‘We are interacting with many countries including Oman, European Union, America, Chile, Peru, New Zealand. Many other countries want to start talks with India.
‘The whole world recognizes India’s strength’
The Union Minister said in a program, ‘Today the whole world recognizes the strength of India and our huge population. 140 crore people together form a huge demand and a huge domestic market. If this did not happen, then you think that everyone would have been so eager to trade with India or to make a better access to the market here.
Put trade with these countries
India and the US are talking on bilateral trade agreement from March. For the next round of talks, an American team is coming to India from August 25, the Commerce Minister said that India has recently signed trade agreements with several countries including the United Arab Emirates, Mauritius, Australia, EFTA (European Free Trade Zone) and Britain.
Talking about fresh trade deal- Piyush Goyal
When Piyush Goyal was asked how India would deal with the existing global trade system and the additional tariff imposed by the US, he said, ‘I do not see any lack of globalization. I see that the country is renewing its trade routes and partners. I am confident that India’s exports will be more than last year. He said that the Indian economy is growing rapidly and the world is looking towards India.
The Union Minister said, ‘The whole world recognizes us as the fastest growing big economy. We are contributing 16 percent to the global growth. Our inflation is the lowest in the world as compared to other emerging market economies. India is stronger today, is more confident, more respected.
He said, ‘India is growing at a rate of 6.5 per cent and we will definitely make business agreements with those with whom we can complement each other.’ These comments are important because US President Donald Trump said that India is a ‘dead economy’.
Regarding the global trade, he said, ‘International trade always finds new avenues and what we are seeing today is probably a change in every few years. Every few years some new countries emerge, some countries go backward and it is part of the history of nations.

India will no longer come under pressure from anyone.
On some concerns regarding the India-Britain trade agreement on government procurement and fee cut on Scotch Whiskey, the Commerce Minister said that there is no concern and Indian companies are also getting access to Britain’s procurement system. He also criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s comment on the Indian economy. He said, ‘This is very sad … It is very unfortunate.’
Union Minister Piyush Goyal also criticized the opposition parties and said that he is not allowing the proceedings of Parliament to run. They are creating fake stories. On Gandhi’s allegations of rigging in the elections, Goyal said that these are absurd comments. He said that the Election Commission of India is known worldwide for conducting independent and fair elections.
