Indian Air Force needs 114 Rafale fighter jet, demanded from government; Will be ready in India only?
The Indian Air Force has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Defense to create 114 Rafale fighter jets in view of the dwindling squadron. If this project of about two (02) lakh crore gets the green signal from the government, then it will be the biggest defense deal in the history of the country.
According to the information, India, Jituji i.e. Government to Government will deal with France, which builds Rafael for this project. After the agreement, Daso (Dassault), a French company that makes Rafale, will set up a manufacturing plant with an indigenous company in India. The indigenous Rafale fighter jet to be built in India will have about 60 percent indigenous weapons and equipment.
Decision to build French fighter aircraft
During the operation vermilion, it has been decided to build a French fighter aircraft under Make in India, given the operational capabilities of the Indian Air Force’s current Rafale fighter jet against Pakistan. In the year 2016, India had signed an agreement to buy 36 Rafale fighter aircraft from France.
Rafale fighter jet was used during Operation Sindoor
Recently, the Indian Air Force used the Rafale fighter jet to destroy the headquarters of terrorist organizations Lashkar -e -Taiba and Jaish -e -Mohammed, who operated from Pakistan during Operation Sindoor to avenge the Pahalgam massacre.
The 36 Rafale fighter jet currently uses the Indian Air Force is equipped with Mitore, Micah and Scalp missiles. All these are French missiles. But the Make in India Rafale fighter jet can also be equipped with missiles made in India.
The Make in India Rafale fighter Jet, however, will have to undergo a long process, including the approval from the Apex Committee, Defense Procurement Council of the Ministry of Finance to the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) and the Ministry of Defense. In such a situation, it is very possible that some of these 114 Rafale fighter jets can be purchased directly from France. These 114 Rafale fighter jets can erect 5-6 squadrons to the Air Force (a squadron consists of 18-20 fighter aircraft).
Deal may be between India and France
If this project gets approval from the government, then the old MRFA of the Air Force i.e. Medium Vate Fighter Jet Project will be put on hold. In the MRFA project, 114 fighters were to be made in Jet Make in India itself. But different aviation company abroad could participate in the tender process (including slaves). But the current deal will be directly between the governments of India and France.
It is noteworthy that in the month of April this year, India also signed a 26 -Marine version of Rafael with France for the Navy. In Rafale (M) fighter aircraft will be deployed on indigenous aircraft career INS Vikrant.
