Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal may soon visit America. The Indo-US trade dialogue is expected to take this journey between moving in the right direction. The journey is going to take place after a day -long conversation between US chief negotiator Brendon Lynch and Special Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce Rajesh Aggarwal on the recently proposed bilateral trade agreement.

Sources said, “The Commerce Minister will probably go to America in the next few days for trade talks. The Ministry of Commerce said that the discussion of the day with the US team that came to Delhi on the bilateral trade agreement on September 16 was positive and both sides agreed to make efforts to quickly and mutually profitably.

After a seven -hour meeting with American officials, the ministry said in a statement, “It has been decided to intensify efforts to reach out to extend the mutually beneficial trade agreement as soon as possible.”

The talks on the trade agreement were stopped after the Trump administration imposed 50 per cent tariffs on Indian products in August. So far, five rounds have been reported between the two sides regarding this agreement.
