Trinamool Congress Says ‘ Let Matter Be Delved ’ on Charges Against Mahua Moitra
New Delhi The Trinamool Congress (TMC) said on Sunday that the matter of the allegations against its MP, Mahua Moitra, should be delved into by the right forum of Parliament.
Moitra has been accused of taking backhanders from a businessman to ask questions in Parliament. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey made the accusations.
The TMC has said that Moitra has denied the allegations and that she’s ready to cooperate with the disquisition.
“TMC spokesperson Derek O’Brien suggested, “Investigate the matter within the proper parliamentary forum.””The party leadership will take an applicable decision after the disquisition is complete.”
Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, is likely to discuss the matter on Monday.
The Congress and the Left parties have also demanded an unprejudiced inquiry into the allegations.
The allegations against Moitra come at a time when the TMC is facing a number of challenges, including the dereliction of several of its leaders to the BJP.
The allegations could also damage the character of the TMC and Moitra, who’s a rising star in the party.
It’s important to note that Moitra has denied the allegations and that she’s ready to cooperate with the disquisition.
The TMC has also said that it’ll take an applicable decision after the disquisition is complete.
