Major accident at Hyderabad Airport, bird collided with IndiGo flight during landing


A major accident was postponed on Wednesday (September 24, 2025) at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (Shamshabad Airport), when IndiGo flight 6E-816 faced a bird colliding during landing. There were 162 passengers in this flight.

During the incident, a bird collided in the engine of the aircraft, making a loud voice and vibration. However, due to the pilot’s quick response and expertise, the aircraft landed safely and there was no casualties or severe damage to the aircraft in the phenomenon.

Emergency protocol applied by Airlines

Giving information about the incident, the airport officials said that the accident happened when the flight 6E-816 was landing in Hyderabad at the scheduled time. Rapid action of pilots and air traffic control (ATC) played an important role in controlling the situation arising out of bird collision. Emergency protocols were immediately implemented to ensure the safety of passengers and crew, resulting in all the passengers safe.

The Airport Authority has started a detailed investigation into the incident, so that its causes can be ascertained and such incidents can be prevented in future. Incidents of bird collisions are a serious challenge in the aviation industry and special measures are taken at airports to reduce such incidents, such as the use of bird fasting techniques.

Questions raised about security protocol

This incident has once again highlighted the importance of rigorous security protocols and emergency preparations in the aviation sector. Pilot’s efficiency and quick action of air traffic control postponed the potential threat.

Indigo Airlines also issued a statement saying that passenger safety is their top priority and they are fully supporting the investigation. The Hyderabad Airport Authority has assured that they will take more strict steps to reduce the incidents of bird collision, so that such incidents can be avoided in future.
