Maruti Suzuki has confirmed its first electric SUV, E Vitara’s launch date. E Vitara was first displayed at the India Mobility Global Auto Expo in January 2025. Maruti Suzuki will launch E Vitara on 3 September. E Vitara will compete with cars like Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curve, MG Windsar, MG ZS EV and Mahindra BE6. The length of E Vitara is 4,275 mm, wheelbase 2,700 mm, height 1,640 mm and width 1,800 mm.

 

The E Vitara Electric SUV has a 3-in-1 powertrain setup that adds motor, inverter and transmission to the same unit. It is available with two battery options, each of which comes with different drivetrain configurations. The 49kwh battery drives a front-mounted electric motor that produces 144hp power and 189Nm torque. At the same time, the 61kwh battery gives power to a front motor that produces 174hp power and the same 189Nm torque.

For better performance seekers, the larger 61kwh battery is likely to be available with the all-wheel-drive (AWD) option. A 65hp rear motor has been added to this variant, which gives a total power of 184hp and torque of 300Nm. Although Maruti has not yet released the official range figures, the big battery will give a driving range of over 500 km. To assist E-Vitara customers, Maruti will provide smart home charger and will assist in installation. In the first 2-3 years, fast-charging infrastructure will be installed in the top 100 cities of India, and plans to set up a charging station every 5–10 km.

 

Additionally, Maruti aims to set up 1,500 electric vehicle-Taiyar service centers in more than 1,000 cities. Inside the e-Vitara, a digital cockpit with twin-deck floating console, a specific design steering wheel, a fixed-glass sunroof and a premium dual-tone soft-touch material, with multi-caller ambient lighting. Technical characteristics include a digital touchscreen of 25.65 cm (10.1-inch) and a multi-information display of 26.04 cm (10.25-inch), which provides spontaneous control. Wireless connectivity and a Harman audio system improve the experience of the car.
