The party’s Parliamentary Board meeting is likely to be held on August 17 to finalize the name of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate for the Vice Presidential election. This meeting can be held at BJP headquarters at 6 pm. BJP national president JP Nadda, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, BL Santosh and other members in the Parliamentary Board meeting.
The National Democratic Alliance has authorized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President JP Nadda for the selection of Vice Presidential candidate. It is believed that the name of the Vice Presidential candidate will be approved on this day. After the name of the name is approved here, NDA allies will also be informed about it.
This last date for nomination for the post of Vice President
It is possible that on August 20 or 21, the NDA Vice Presidential candidates can nominate. The last date for filing nominations for the election for this post is 21 August. If the opposition also announces its candidate, which has a strong possibility, then on September 9, there will be elections for the post of Vice President.
The NDA has an absolute majority in the electoral college, which includes members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The victory of the ruling coalition candidate is certain in the event of the match. This election has to be held due to sudden resignation from the post of Vice President, citing the health reasons of Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister will also be involved
According to sources, all the Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Minister of NDA -ruled states have also been called to Delhi, so that they can join the nomination of the Vice Presidential candidate. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Thursday (August 14, 2025) that PM Modi and party president JP Nadda will finalize the NDA candidate of the Vice Presidential election.
