Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari made a big announcement on Wednesday. He has announced to start an annual pass for private vehicles, which will be fastag based. Gadkari described this initiative as a transformative step and said that it will make it difficult for people to travel on the highway.
Gadkari announced a fastag -based pass by posting a post on X. He wrote, ‘As a transformative step towards trouble -free highway travel, we are starting a fastag based annual pass priced ₹ 3,000, which will be effective from August 15. This pass is to enable uninterrupted and cost -effective travel on national highways across the country.
About Fastag based pass
According to the Union Transport Minister, the price of these fastag -based annual passes will be Rs 3,000. These pass are for non-commercial vehicles such as cars, jeeps and vans. These passes will be available from August 15 and will be valid for one year or 200 trip from the date of activation.
Other information
Fastag based annual passes will be valid on all national highways. These are only for non-commercial private vehicles. This will make toll payment easier through single, prepaid transactions. Its purpose is to reduce the time and congestion at the toll plaza.
The annual pass uses the existing Fastag system, which is based on the RFID (radio-fibrillation identity) technology. With this you can pay toll without paying cash.

Annual pass purpose
